A correspondence, a history to share.
Focusing on the years 1565–1576, Projet GORDES studies the early French Wars of Religion through the correspondence received by the baron de Gordes. The source collection comprises 7,018 letters in the 31 volumes of Series K in the archives of the château of Chantilly.
This collaborative project brings together historians, transcribers and digital humanities to make the documents, transcriptions and documentary context accessible to researchers and history enthusiasts. The letters currently available on this site form part of that collection.
